There’s a fine line between genius and insanity. I have erased this line. ~ Oscar Levant (1906 – 1972)

I have never been happier to see a pair of socks come off the needles. I really like the finished look of these socks, but I hated knitting them.

And, the leftover yarn (with a 7″ leg!):

I really like these socks, but I hated knitting this pattern. I don’t know why: it’s simple and easy to memorize. I just did not enjoy knitting it, so it took seven months to finish these socks.

I have two pairs of socks left on the needles. I’m going to try to finish them before I cast on the next pair. The next pair will probably be a plain stockinette pair knit with this fabulous yarn:

Lately Kishka has been sleeping with one foot stretched out and one foot tucked underneath her. I call it The Flamingo:

What I find most odd about this is that this is how I usually sleep. Either Kish and I are on the same wavelenghth, or she’s been watching me sleep and is taking notes.

  1. I LOVE Susie’s stuff – her colors are so vibrant and knit up so great. Also – she does something with it that makes it smell really good too.

BTW – your title quote is one I use at almost every sighting of my sister – it pretty much sums it all up ;)

  2. I’d say you and Kishka are definitely on the same wave length. Pets and their people often are. Love the Perchance to Knit. And I’m sorry you didn’t like the pattern, but I must say the socks are lovely.

  3. It’s amazing that Kishka still finds postition that are unusal. Your socks look like “Happy socks”, and I know, it doesn’t matter if the pattern is easy, it might just be because of that that they get boring to knit!

  4. Funny… that’s how I sleep, too.

  5. Nicely done! Very cheerful socks!

  6. Kishka and Mingus are soulmates. He does the same thing!

Nice dye job on those socks! I love the smell of Kool-Aid yarn.

  7. Awesome socks! Good job with the Kool-Aid.

  8. I LOVE the dye job on the socks! I wish I had the patience to do that.

Oh, and I sleep the same way as Kishka! ;-

  9. What super colors! You did such a wonderful colorway! And the socks look fab! Doesn’t it feel great to get them done!?! :)

  10. I am making those socks right now. Also using yarn I dyed myself with icing dyes. I’m liking the pattern. I didn’t like the Monkey sock pattern that everyone is making. They look real nice but I found them annoying to knit. My akita sleeps on the floor between the chair and ottoman. He stretches one leg out behind him and puts the other on the side of the ottoman.

  11. Maybe Kisha is really trying to imitate you, who knows? The socks look great, I’m sorry you did not enjoy the process. I love the blue/pink yarn, the color combination is beautiful.

  12. Interesting socks. Very pastel, very spring-ish. I admire your tenacity to complete them. As for the dog, well, they say after some time dogs and their humans begin to look alike. Sleeping in similar positions…?? Mine don’t sleep like me, but I’ve heard sleeping in similar positions is possible. Your Kishka may be imitating you…never know.

  13. When I knit the Classy Slip-ups, I felt the same way. They just went on and on and didn’t seem to end, and I was knitting them for someone with small feet!

  14. She might have a sore knee. My son’s dog is sleeping like this now, and we know she has a knee injury.
