There are new socks on the needles:

This yarn started pooling, so I decreased the stitch count a tad and now it’s striping nicely. That makes me happy.

I’ve pretty much decided to frog the Tropical Monkey socks back to the heel and knit a plain, stockinette foot. I plan to do that when I’m done with these socks. I don’t know why, but I really want to finish these socks. It must be the predicted change in weather for this weekend.

I haven’t done this in a few weeks, but here’s Friday’s Feast:

3. It’s not that I don’t like my birthday, but that it’s really just another day for me. I usually take the day off work and spend the day watching movies and knitting.

I hate the sound of the word ‘slacks’.

Do you wear sunglasses when you’re outside? If so, what does your current pair look like?
Always. I have a basic, cheapo pair of sunglasses. I’m prone to losing/breaking them , so I buy them at Target or WalMart.

Depending on what the book was about, my parents or my best friend. Maybe both.

My to-be-felted bag was a very enjoyable knit and then I grafted the handles and tossed it in the washing machine.

Lesson Learned: I’m an idiot.*

* The most glaring defect to me is that the bag looks like a bra. I don’t know about you, but I don’t wish to carry a bag that looks like a bra. I don’t even like to wear the dang things and I don’t want a bag that looks like one!

*The bag shrunk in height: A LOT more than I anticipated. Still, I could have salvaged the bag except I grafted the handles incorrectly. I should have grafted the two handles on the same side of the bag, not the two handles on opposite side of the bag.

What makes this so horrible is that I triple checked the handles before I started grafting to make sure I was grafting the correct handles.

Obviously, when I began grafting I had my head up my ass. And apparently it was up there so far I could have licked my own tonsils.

Ugh.

I will salvage what I can from this monstrosity. I plan to get out the scissors and cut the bag up into place mats (for the animal dishes) and coasters (for me, obviously).

Moving on….

There’s another FO in the house and I’m very happy with this one:

The husband killing woman in Tennessee walked out of jail after serving just seven months. Seriously…what the hell is wrong with our justice system? If a man served that amount of time for killing his wife, this country would be an uproar. Why on earth is she catching a break? She didn’t kill him in self defense. Her ass should be in jail for the rest of her life.

This past week has been amazing for a weather geek like me.

There have been gorgeous, sunny days:

Yesterday afternoon I was driving down the highway, iPod playing my favorite songs and admiring the big, puffy, white clouds against the bright blue sky. It was a perfect moment.

What do you do to cool off when the weather is hot and humid?
It’s rarely humid here, but when it’s hot (which it is right now), I like to park myself in front of my window AC unit. I have a chair that sits right in front of it and when I sit there it cools me off immediately.

You receive $1,000 in the mail with a letter that says you can only use the money to redecorate one room in your home. Which room do you pick, and what do you buy to spruce it up?
I rent, so I wouldn’t spend the money on paint or anything I had to leave behind. I’d use the $1000 towards a new bed. (Yes, that’s boring, but it’s what I would do.)

Earlier today I was sorting my stash in preparation for its photo shoot (I’m uploading the whole kit-n-kaboodle to Ravelry). I ended up with three large bags of yarn that will be donated to Warm The World.  And, I found a knitting project that I had forgotten about:


This is (obviously) the Irish Hiking Scarf .  I started it at least a year ago and then stuffed it into a yarn bin. When I found the scarf,  I felt like it was my birthday. I’ve been thinking about knitting this pattern and now I can just jump right in and finish this scarf.

This afternoon I had a great session of PT. I’m healing a little bit every day and I’m able to actually do the exercises now. It does hurt, but I have come so far in just a month. I was so happy as I drove home that I took the scenic route and snapped some pictures.

I have to do things in order. For example, I have to take my multi-vitamin before my calcium. A more extreme example is when I get out of the shower. I must wrap my hair in a towel, dry off, brush my teeth, put on deodorant, put on sunscreen and then comb out my hair. If I do something out of order, I go back to the beginning and start over.

It’s a tie between the violin and the piano.

How long is your hair?
Too long. It’s almost to my shoulders and I wish it was chin length. As soon as I can stand sitting in a stylist’s chair, I’m getting it hacked off.

This sounds horribly egocentric, but I last forgave myself. It was a long time coming (I forgave myself for marrying my ex-husband), but I’ve finally reached that point and have stopped beating myself up over it.
