Democracy is the government of the people, by the people, for the people. ~ Abraham Lincoln

231 years ago, a group of men decided to take a stand against England and declare America’s independence. If they were alive today, I wonder what they would think of the current American government. I have a feeling they would be ashamed.

Today, I celebrate the group of men who took that stand in the sweltering summer of ’76. May the men in power today change their ways and stop making a mockery of everything America stands for.

I’ve been spending an obscene amount of time on Ravelry, but I have managed to do some knitting.

The Summer of Scraps blanket is coming along nicely:

One of the Pink Clouds sock has a partial heel flap:

The Tropical Monkey Socks have turned their heels:

Edited later in the day……….

A tornado touched down about 10 miles from my house.  I managed to get a picture of it.

On such a day is this, let us not forget the women that also did so much for our country. A wonderful book to remind us of how much of an impact they made to the founding of America is “Founding Mothers”. Where would John Adams have been without Abigail? 🙂 Happy July 4th.

  2. Wow. Incredible pictures! I hope no one was hurt.

  3. I like your thinking! I hope the flag is not made in China!!! ;o)
Great pictures. Where you scared the Tornado would come closer? It’s fantastic to watch, as long as it stays in the distance and doesn’t destroy and kill. You certainly got some knitting done! From what I read, people spend too much time on Ravelry. Maybe it’s a good thing that I’m still waiting for an invitation. I don’t need to spend more time on the computer, but way less!!! ;o)

  4. Awesome pictures! Love those Monkeys! Wow great Tornado shot…I hope everyone is okay. 🙂

  5. Woiw those are cool nature pictures! I’m so jealuos of the tornado. I have always wanted to see one, let alone photograph one.

  6. I love seeing all your pretty colorful knitting. 🙂

Were you not frightened by the tornado?

  7. I hope you had a great 4th! All the knits look gorgeous. Tornatos scare the beegeebers out of me, though that picture is amazing.

  8. Wow, a picture of a tornado! How cool and scary at the same time!
I LOVE the tropical monkeys! Great colorway!

  9. Pink and grey socks…. hmmm, I do have that combination here, somewhere… The colors do look great together, maybe it’s time to dig mine out. That twister picture looks scary.
