Potpourri

The blogging, it’s been sparse. The knitting has also been sparse. It’s just too damn hot to knit. I have been knitting a felted bag, but (of course) I keep forgetting to take a picture of it.

So, what have I been doing?

I’ve been uploading my whole stash to Ravelry.

I’ve been finding dog toys posed in weird positions:

This past Saturday I was barbecuing with the Warm The World folks.

When I arrived home from the barbecue, my date, Harry, was waiting for me:

I finished the book in about 24 hours (with a couple breaks for sleeping) and I think it was just perfect. It was worth the wait and it lived up to the hype (which I did not expect it to do).

This afternoon, I did something I’ve never done before:

I bought the beading supplies at a 50% off sale last year and just got around to using them. I’m not really interested in beading, but I wear a medic alert bracelet and I’m cheap frugal. The batch of bracelets I bought years ago are showing their age and are not holding up very well. So, I decided to make them myself.

I have to say, I’m very happy with the results. I had no clue what I was doing. I just kind of operated on instinct and before I knew it, I had finished eleven bracelets. I didn’t enjoy the beading enough to do it on a regular basis (I also don’t wear jewelry), but I’m glad I can make my own medic alert bracelets now.

  1. Your bracelets are really lovely. I really like the colors you chose! 🙂

  2. LOL at the dog toy picture!

Your bracelets are very pretty. You make nice things when you don’t know what you’re doing! 🙂

  3. Everywhere I turn, there’s someone reading the Harry Potter book. But I’m cheaper than you… I mean, more frugal. I’m on my city library’s queue. I’m number 37.

  4. Those bracelets are so very pretty!

  5. I think it’s the look of sheer shock on that stuffed cat’s face that makes the picture. And the bracelets are beautiful!

  6. LOL at the stuffed cat. I’ve tried those with Winter and he just goes through them in 20 minutes. (Yanks on the ears and opens the seams). Nice bracelets.

    I loved the HP book.

  7. I love the bracelets. You’re a natural! The obscene kitty photo, oh my. ;-Þ
