Labradors [are] lousy watchdogs. They usually bark when there is a stranger about, but it is an expression of unmitigated joy at the chance to meet somebody new, not a warning. ~ Norman Strung

It was another gorgeous weekend here. When Sadie and I arrived at the park I realized that spring is finally here.

The stream is completely thawed. The little waterfalls are all flowing freely.

Another waterfall

Tiny waterfall

As always, Sadie jumped right in.

She barked with joy.

Barking with joy

She splashed.

Splish splash

She enjoyed the ice cold water.

Enjoying the cold water

And she shook it off when she splashed it all over herself.

Shaking off the water

Sadie loves the water.

We also explored the woods. Sadie loves to run through the woods.

Here she comes!

She loves it even more when there’s someone to chase.

We explored the fields.

In the middle of one of these fields is my favorite bench in the park.

Bench overlooking Cheyenne Mountain

I love to sit there and admire the view.

It was a fun day and when we arrived home Sadie passed out.

I finished the socks last night.

My intent was to get the stripes to match as closely as possible and look what happened:

They match perfectly. I’m still not sure how I pulled that off.

Full details of the socks are here.

I love this yarn so much that I’m going to use it again for the next pair of socks.

Great post as always! Glad to see your gal having a happy time at the park. She’s such a cutie. Nice socks too! We’re having amazing weather here in Ontario as well…hope it lasts.

  2. Love the socks! I haven’t gotten my paws on any Yarntini yet. Hm… Sadie looks like she’s having way more fun than my dogs, as usual. My poor dogs are snoozing away instead of running with wild abandon because I won’t venture out into this rain.

  3. Looks like Sadie was really enjoying herself in the creek. Your park is beautiful – such nice scenery. Congrats on the socks also. I have a hard time just pulling a matching pair from the drawer, much less actually *making* them myself.

  4. I’m so jealous of your park! I wish we had something like that around here. Sadie looks so funny in the field photo. No wonder she passed out, such a great walk!
I love your new finished socks. They looks great! Super job on matching the stripes! 🙂

  5. YAY! Spring!
Sadie does look like a happy dog!
(I love the purple green socks, but the pink gray ones? OMG…drool…can’t wait to see them!)

  6. I love happy Sadie pictures! What a georgous view! Your socks are lovely and that is so cool how they matched up without you really trying! Can’t wait to see the pink ones. *hugs* 🙂

  7. What a lovely day for a walk. 🙂

Hi, just wanted to thank you for sharing the photos of your Sadie enjoying Spring. Our Lab-mix also loves water and the outdoors in general. Your socks are beautiful too; congratulations on matching up those stripes!
