Thunderstorm

I’m a weather whore.

Not the kind of weather whore who watches The Weather Channel (I actually hate that channel), but the kind of weather whore who will spot a cool cloud and pull off the road to take pictures of it.

I have eight different weather apps on my phone, including one that only shows radar.

I have the NWS radar bookmarked on my home and work computers and when a storm is brewing I obsessively refresh the screen so I can track the storm.

Many of my favorite pictures are of storm clouds and other kinds of weather.

This one was taken on June 10, 2007 from my backyard. It’s the classic anvil thunderhead. I’ve only seen a few of these perfect anvil clouds in my life and have only photographed this one.

That is an AMAZING picture! We don’t really have enough big sky available around here to see clouds like that.

Did you see Boston.com’s Big Picture post on “Stormy skies”?

You might like those too. πŸ™‚

  3. It looks like a chanterelle mushroom in the sky!

  4. That’s so impressive! I never knew the names of clouds, but I learned to watch them (and marvel at them) from my Mom.

    That’s one amazing photo!
    (((hugs)))

  5. I love weather too! Your cloud photo is awesome. Which weather apps do you have? I recently got a BlackBerry and have not yet downloaded a weather app. I need one. Help! LOL

  6. My weather apps are: AccuWeather, iWeatherLite, Radar, The Weather Channel, Weather, WeatherAlert, WeatherBugElite and WeatherPlanet.

My favorite is Accuweather. I use that one the most.

  7. You also have an amazing eye for the little details that most of us take for granted. You are such an artist with a camera. This is just a spectacular shot! πŸ™‚
