What sound, other than the normal ringing, would you like your telephone to make?
I can’t think of anything. Cell phones have all kinds of rings and I can’t think of anything I would want. I find most ring tones to be annoying as hell.
Describe your usual disposition in meteorological terms (partly cloudy, sunny, stormy, etc.).
Mostly sunny with a slight chance of storms.
What specific subject do you feel you know better than any other subjects?
Science. I am a total science geek, especially biology.
Imagine you were given the ability to remember everything you read for one entire day. Which books/magazines/newspapers would you choose to read?
If a popular candy maker contacted you to create their next confection, what would it be like and what would you name it?
This is a silly question because the perfect candy already exists: peanut butter cups!
The Pastel Rainbow socks are on the needles:
And the critter parade……..
Parker is enjoying the sunshine:
Samantha is snoozing:
And Kishka wishes I’d stop taking pictures so she can sleep:
Finally, kitty paws!
Today is all about the feast:
Appetizer – Have you been sick yet this winter? If so, what did you come down with?
Soup – What colors dominate your closet?
My clothes closet or my linen closet? My clothes closet is mostly dark colors: navy, burgundy, dark green. My linen closet is vibrant (some may say obnoxious) colors like lime green and hot pink.
Salad – How would you describe your personal “comfort zone”?
Unless we’re close friends, keep your distance. I also hate crowds.
Main Course – On which reality show would you really like to be a contestant?
I would give my right arm to be on The Amazing Race.
Dessert – Which holiday would you consider to be your favorite?
I don’t really celebrate holidays. I detest ‘Hallmark holidays’ and refuse to even acknowledge them. The holiday I ‘celebrate’ the most would be Independence Day. I usually read a book or watch a documentary about the Revolutionary War.
If you could take lessons to learn any musical instrument, which would you want to learn?
Either the violin or the piano. Maybe the guitar.
Have you ever mistaken a person for someone else?
I don’t think I ever have.
On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how well do you keep secrets?
9.5. If someone tells me a secret, it’s going to take a hell of a lot to drag it out of me. And even then, I probably won’t tell.
What’s the closest you’ve ever been to a dangerous animal?
I used to work in wildlife rehabilitation and I worked with hawks and owls on a daily basis. They may not be large like a tiger or lion, but they have the ability to do great bodily harm with their talons.
When was the last time you lost your patience?
I honestly can’t remember.
This week’s edition of Friday’s Feast:
Which television shows do you just refuse to miss?
The Amazing Race and Grey’s Anatomy.
Who did you last speak to on the telephone?
How many pillows do you keep on your bed?
Five: a body pillow, a king size pillow, two standard size pillow and a neck pillow. I sleep with all of those pillows. I don’t have any decorative pillows.
Name one addition to your computer (software, hardware, etc.) that you’d love to have.
An external hard drive.
What is your favorite foreign food?
I’m an insanely picky eater and am not fond of very many non-American foods. My favorite “foreign” food would be hard tacos. I adore them and could survive on them.
The animals were particularly cute today, so (of course) I took pictures.
Kishka and Max:
The Emerald socks went on the needles earlier this evening:
What comes to mind when you see the color orange?
Did you ever get in trouble while you were in school? If so, what was it for?
I was actually very shy and quiet all through school. Okay, I was a goody-two-shoes. I can only remember three specific times I got in trouble:
- In 5th grade, I was caught eating Smarties on the playground. I had to write “I will not eat candy on the playground” 100 times.
- In 6th grade, all the girls in the class ganged up on another girl. We received a stern talking to from the principal and our teacher. This was certainly not my proudest moment. Meg Jamison, if you’re out there, I am truly sorry.
- In my senior year of high school, I was kicked out of the National Honor Society because my grades dropped below their standards. The assistant principal of the high school personally kicked me out and thought it was a horribly solemn occasion. I was actually quite amused at being kicked out and he kept trying to impress upon me how serious the situation was. It didn’t work. Flash forward six months to the Senior Party (held after graduation and lasting all night) and this assistant principal was in the dunk tank. I was the first person to dunk him.
Which topping(s) make up your perfect pizza?
Papa Murphy’s Papa’s Favorite Pizza. Hold the mushrooms and add tomatoes.
Do you believe in UFOs/aliens/etc.? Why or why not?
I don’t necessarily believe in them, but I don’t not believe in them, either.
What color is your bedspread/comforter/quilt?
I don’t have any of the above. My bed partner is quite hairy, so I cover the bed with a blanket. I have three blankets that each serve a couple days on the bed before being moved into the washing machine. The blankets are hot pink, lime green and mauve pink.
I was driving out of Colorado Springs at sunset today and snapped this picture of Pikes Peak:
The Candy Cane socks are on the needles:
Earlier tonight, Kishka was holding court with the Shepherds. I don’t know what she was saying, but she was very emphatic:
The Sunshine Lilac Blanket is coming along:
This week’s Friday’s Feast:
Which celebrity (or celebrities) do you think will make headlines this year?
What an inane question. Bleech
They say that good things come in small packages. What is something little that you think is great?
What? Another odd question. And ‘little’ is quite relative. Next!
Name a song that makes you want to dance.
I can’t believe I’m admitting this, but You Spin Me Round. The song is silly, I’ve heard it 1000 times, but it always makes me want to dance.
What is your favorite font?
My favorite font? I think the question writers were hitting the bong this week. I tend to use simple fonts. I detest web pages that go all gung ho with fonts. If I had to choose, I’d probably say Lucinda.
If you were to write a do-it-yourself article, what would it be about?
Another wtf question. I have no clue.
Man, Friday’s Feast was a bust this week. Hopefully they gain momentum as the year progresses.

How do you usually celebrate on New Year’s Eve?
I’ve never really been one to do anything special on NYE, so it’s usually a regular ‘ole evening for me. I usually stay home (too many drunks on the roads). If the weather is clear, I step outside at midnight to watch the fireworks on Pikes Peak. I usually make a toast to the new year and reflect on the year that just ended.
Name one thing unexpected that happened to you in 2006.
A close friendship ended when I saw the person’s true colors. I’ve never lost a friend in such a way and it was rather unnerving.
Where was your favorite place that you visited in 2006?
I didn’t travel this year. With two elderly dogs and a job layoff, it’s just not the time. I’m a homebody though, so I don’t mind being at home.
What resolution is your top priority for 2007?
I learned long ago to not make resolutions. Does anyone really keep their resolutions?
Using just three words, describe 2006.
A roller coaster.
My precious boy:
When I did my snow day dance, I really should have clarified that I wanted a snow day with power.
I wasn’t able to get to work this morning. (Yay!) However, I lost power very early this morning and it didn’t come back on until around 11pm tonight. The downside of country living is that when I lose power, I also lose water and heat.
Thankfully, I thought ahead and filled up my washing machine with water last night. This allowed me to flush the toilet (via a bucket of water) today. I know, that’s TMI, but believe me: that was a huge deal!
I put all of my perishable food outside in the snow, so none of it spoiled. I also have a gas stove, so I could cook.
I spent today listening to the radio and knitting on my Fuzzy Feet. As the house got colder, I piled on more clothes. By the time the power came back on, I was wearing a T-shirt, two sweatshirts, sweatpants and two pairs of wool socks.
My camera batteries died before sunrise (and I obviously couldn’t recharge them), so I have no blizzard pictures. It was a doozy of a blizzard, though. There’s a snow drift in front of my house that is as high as the fence (four feet). The highway to my house is still closed, so I’m stranded at home.
However, I have heat, lights and water.
I have no complaints.
Here’s Friday’s Feast:
Create a new candle scent.
The smell of my mom’s spaghetti sauce.
Name one way you show affection to others.
Unexpected gifts and cards.
What is your favorite writing instrument?
A 0.9mm mechanical pencil.
If you were given $25 to spend anywhere online, from which site would you buy?
Knit Picks, of course.
Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what are you going to be?
No. I’ve never been into Halloween.
Here’s the first Fuzzy Foot:
And Kishka, posing again:
It’s almost Friday, so it’s time for the weekly feast:
What is your favorite beverage?
Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi. Sometimes I get a little wild and mix it with grape Kool-Aid.
Name 3 things that are on your computer desk at home or work.
I don’t have a desk at home, so work it is: stapler, date stamp, calendar.
On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how honest do you think you are?
8. My mouth often gets me into trouble.
If you could change the name of one city in the world, what would you rename it and why?
Another silly question.
What stresses you out? What calms you down?
Change stresses me out. I detest change more than I can say. I’m a creature of habit.
Snuggling with a dog calms me down. If I didn’t have dogs, I’m convinced the last two years would have put me in the loony bin.
I’ve put the heel in the first Jellybean sock, but forgot to take a picture of it. Darn CRS!
Log Cabin #3 is taking shape:
Log Cabins always look wonky for the first few rounds. My trust in the pattern is what keeps me going.
I was driving home yesterday and had to pull over to take a picture of the mountains peeking out of the clouds:
And, tonight’s sunset:
It’s been cold here at night (in the 20’s) and I’m back to sharing my bed:
Charlie Brown was right: Happiness is a warm puppy.
Quite frankly, today’s Friday’s Feast is rather lame. I don’t want to break tradition, though, so here it is:
Approximately how many hours per week do you spend reading other blogs?
I have no idea. I surf while knitting, watching TV and during down times at work. Often I just skim blogs.
Your community wants everyone to give one thing to put into a time capsule. What item would you choose to include?
My community just did this and I didn’t particiapte. ‘Nuff said.
What is the most interesting tourist attraction you’ve ever visited?
Honestly, I can’t pick just one. Interesting can mean so many different things.
I was very fortunate to grow up in a family that took driving vacations every summer and I traveled to much of the United States. I’ve done a bit of traveling as an adult, too.
The destination that had the most impact on me was Colorado. My family visited Colorado multiple times. On one of these trips, I declared my intent to move West (I was 11 or 12 at the time). When I was 24, I did just that and have never regretted it for one minute.
If you could give an award to anyone for anything, who would it be and what would the award be titled?
I would carve a piece of cheese and give it to the person who wrote this question.
What do you think your favorite color reveals about your personality?
Another odd question. My favorite colors are green and purple. I guess that means I like money and singing dinosaurs.
I have no knitting pictures because I’ve been spending all my time knitting. The first Jellybean sock is coming along nicely. I expect to put the border on Log Cabin #2 this weekend. The yarn for Log Cabin #3 will (hopefully) be purchased tonight.
